If you can find it, get a bottle of Rittenhouse Bonded (100 proof) rye, a bottle of Cinzano sweet vermouth, and a bottle of angostura bitters. Mix 2 parts rye to one part vermouth, then add a dash of bitters. Stir with a bunch of ice, and pour into another glass. This will total around 30 bucks in California, and make a better manhattan than almost any bar you can ever find. If there's no Rittenhouse, Old Overholt is a decent substitute.

1. Yes, interactive radio on your phone can replace your MP3 player on some days
Now that interactive radio has gone mobile, you can listen to a mix of stuff you know and fresh material from artists you're probably going to like, thanks to the "Heart" and "Ban" buttons that let you hone the artist-based stations these services let you create. Even better, you can do all of this using the same profile you've already been honing on Pandora, Last.fm, imeem, or wherever.
The main problem with this is that you can't access your channels on the subway, plane, or anywhere else without a decent cell signal. But that problem has already been solved, to a certain extent.

This course explores qualitative methods for studying communication participants, processes, texts, and technologies. These methods focus on theories of cultural understanding and social insight rather than statistical “proof” or predictive models. As we discuss methodological texts and exemplars from various disciplines and traditions, we will pay special attention to their use within communication as an interdisciplinary and multi-modal field. Therefore, methods will be examined not merely as a neutral toolkit, but techniques that have specific meanings and inflections in cultural, historical and disciplinary contexts. The goal of this class is to emerge not only with an understanding of different qualitative methods available to the communication scholar, but also of the philosophical, political, and logistical issues involved in matching choice of method to research questions.

Yesterday, 8:15 am, E train Union Tpke
I got on the train and was listening to the iPod. This was one of the newer E trains - the ones that look like the 6 and L trains - and it was jam packed. There was no room to move about and being only 5?5 I still had to opt to hang on to the handles right above me instead of to my sides.
There was a young couple chatting flirtatiously (even though it was professional) and though there was room I could not hang on in between them as my hand would distract their conversation.
Behind me, I was not aware of what was going on, but apparently my body may have touched another man’s body. This man was about 6?1 and ugly looking. All of a sudden through the melodious sound in my iPod I hear a cankerous growl.
